So this year while the Oscars technically were very short for me, I didn't start watching them till after midnight on Sunday (I had to watch them Sunday night- I do NOT do spoilers!) so I apologize for my round up being a day late. However, better late than never. So in honor of all the glam and glitz of Sunday night and the one awards show I never miss- here are the First Annual BGND Powder Puff Awards! As you all know I like to stay positive-no negative chat here...so here are my awards for the best lookers of the night and why.
And the BGND Powder Puff for "Looking great is the best revenge" goes to:
Jennifer Aniston!!!
The woman rocked it. California girl to a tee, loved the golden skin with great bronzer, the fab dress and the oh-so trendy and yet hard to pull off hair-do of the moment aka braids.
Well played Aniston- well played.
(P.S. Sorry for the silly pics- as you know many of the presenters did not walk the red carpet so the selection of shots was limited. But hey- she still looks killer even with that look on her face!)
The BGND Powder Puff for "Best from the neck-up" goes to:
Miley Cyrus!!!
Okay - pick your jaws up from the floor. I said it. I may not be her target audience (or get her appeal) but on Sunday - the hair and make-up were amazing. (I am not a fan of the dress but alas...) She looks so fresh faced and glowing, so AGE APPROPRIATE. If this was the only MC I knew- I could totally get why she has legions of fans. You look beautiful Miley.The BGND Powder Puff for "Most comforablet in her own skin" goes to:
Marisa Tomei!!!
She won years ago for Cousin Vinny and people still give her a hard time about it. But she has fought her way back to the A list and looks lovely. No Botox, no crazy amount of make-up or severe hair creation. She just looks good. Smokey eyes, slight pink lips- fresh of the moment and pretty. Love it.
The BGND Powder Puff for "Best Newcomer" goes to:
Taraji P Henson!!!
Wow. Way to bring it for your first time to the big dance. This is THE glamour look of the night. Sleek shiny hair, deep dark eyes, great blush. All around flawless. Taraji looks like she has been working the red carpet for years!
And Finally!
The BGND Powder Puff for "Best of the night" goes to:
Robin Wright Penn!!!
She will always be Princess Buttercup and Jeeeeennnnaaaay (aka Jenny - I just typed out the Forest Gump version.) And I am sorry I couldn't find a shot of her alone but oh well.
Seriously though- for whatever reason - she was my favorite look of the night. If I had to pick one look from Sunday night to recreate- this is it.
She is wearing a simple black dress but looks the most glam of almost any woman that was there. Perfect hair- - those blond waves could make a brunette like me VERY jealous. Amazing skin- smooth natural and luminous. Great nails, great blush- you name it - she worked it. She just GLOWED. The shot of her from the audience when Sean was up there accepting was the scene stealer. Maybe it was the whole almost getting divorced thing- but I think she looks better than she ever has. Take that supermodels everywhere!!
